A rocky territory as far as the eye can see. Several areas are still covered by snow. The sky is blue and the sun is shining. The horizon is somewhat cloudy. A red pickup truck is parked nearby. No roads are visible. A young man is standing with his back to the camera. He has his hands in his pockets and he’s gazing into the distance. An inukshuk is visible from some distance, on the highest part of the landscape.
I've always liked passing through here. You could even say that it’s like... my checkpoint. Every time I go, uh, hunting, camping, we have to go through here because there's a trail that goes to Akulivik. Akulivik is right over there. You can tell that there’s another, another bay. And, uh, every time we pass by here, because we go up a hill... We're in a hill, where there’s an inukshuk.
Adamie looks all around him.
Well, it’s a nice place to stop and uh, to take your time before continuing on your way. It still takes half an hour to get to Akulivik. So, I chill here during that time. I relax... I've always loved nature, so, uh, I think it's a, it's a good viewpoint. And, uh, it always feels good because nature is like therapy to me. I feel, uh... I always feel good when I come back from camp. Or when I go hunting. Every time.
You enjoy nature all day long here. So, I always feel better. I always feel better when I come home. Because, in the village, it's like, uh... We’re like in a prison, as some people say. Because we're in the middle of the desert, so it's like prison. Every time I get out of there, it doesn't take much time, but you can see nature right a way.
So now, when I'm here, I come through here. I take the opportunity to stop. I stop my car and park here and, uh, I look at all this. I've always been fascinated by this and, uh, I always feel good each time. Nature, mountains, rivers, animals... They’ve always fascinated me. Since I was a kid eh, I've always liked it. Especially when you see caribou, geese, partridges... And you take it back with you. You return home with animals. Your family's happy. We're going to eat.
And, uh, that's what I loved most. Landscape, nature.... This is my therapy.
Yeah, it's really something... Y’know, uh... That's what I missed the most when I was in the south. When we pass through here, there are no lights, there's no traffic. You pass through here, anytime, no matter when, and, uh, it's peaceful. It’s peaceful.
